Advanced Manual Therapy

As part of your Initial Assessment of the Optimal Health Program we will discuss any pain or discomfort that you are experiencing. We look at your history of injury and/or surgeries and discuss the present symptoms you are experiencing. Upon reviewing all information we will make an assessment and recommend any advanced manual therapies that may be beneficial to help resolve health issues, disease, or pain. Some of the therapies considered are:

Myofascial Release™ is a gentle, hands on therapy which frees restrictions in the fascia to restore normal alignment, function, and reduce pain. Fascia is a web-like connective tissue system that runs throughout our body. Restrictions in the fascia create a strain pattern that shortens the fascia and musculature, creating abnormal tension on the neural, vascular, and osseous (bone) structure. These abnormal compression forces can surface as different symptoms in each system of the body. For more information, see our article Are You Still Hurting?

CranioSacral Therapy works directly with your body’s tissues, but can also have a gentle and positive impact on the energy systems that connect the body, mind, and emotions. The healing and gentle balancing effect of CranioSacral Therapy can provide pain release, stress reduction, increased energy, and a heightened sense of physical and emotional well-being.

Lymphatic Drainage increases the flow of lymph fluid. When lymph flow is enhanced toxic and infectious materials, as well as excess body fluids are removed more effectively from the body. Lymph Drainage is an excellent therapy to reduce swelling (edema) due to injury, cancer treatment, surgery, acute or chronic illness.

Reflexology is based on a principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all glands, organs, and parts of the body. The reflex points of a gland, organ, or other body system is stimulated to bring that area back into balance to facilitate increased health and homeostasis.

Therapeutic Massage has generally been recognized to provide relaxation, reduce the effects of stress and provide relief from tired aching muscles. Research has shown that its benefits extend to a wide variety of other conditions, including back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, enhance detoxification, and relieve symptoms from cancer treatment, just to name a few.

Energy Therapy addresses the eight energy systems of the physical/energetic body. The therapist utilizes energy as a tool during the therapy session. Since our body is made up of energy, we absorb and store energy from physical and emotional events that occur. We refer to this energy that is stored at the cellular level as “old energy.” Just like a recording, old energy may hold memories of physical and/or emotional events that can affect us years later. Energy therapy may be combined with other advanced manual therapies to remove this old energy, often times relieving current pain and suffering from layers of trauma accumulated over many decades.
