21st Century Psychology

A new field of psychology has risen out of the growing demand for an effective alternative. Beliefs and Perceptions

Our beliefs control our attitudes, which control our feelings, which determine our actions. The fact is that over 90% of everything we think, do, say, feel, and believe originates in our subconscious mind. Our beliefs are the cumulative effect of long-term programming which starts at birth and is the result of influences from our family, community, society, and our own experiences. From these beliefs and perceptions held at the subconscious level we manifest our current reality. The only way to change our current reality is to change the programming at the subconscious level.

Changing subconscious beliefs that may be sabotaging well-intentioned goals is similar to reprogramming a computer. Our experiences, perceptions, and beliefs are stored in the mind just like a "file" is stored in a computer. The more emotionally charged the experience, the more likely it will be stored for future reference. This is why the smell of apple pie reminds us of visiting grandma long ago and brings to us a warm, happy feeling or it might be a stranger's voice that reminds us of a painful relationship and we start feeling angry and hurt for no apparent reason. These are examples of present experiences causing our mind to access old "files" held in the subconscious mind.
